The bridge has been constructed to replace Chanh ferry, which is the final ferry on National Highway 37 connecting Vinh Bao district in Hai Phong with Ninh Giang district in Hai Duong.

The new bridge measures 669 metres long and 12 metres wide and is invested with VND317 billion (US$14.9 million).

Chanh bridge is under the project to upgrade a 25 km section of National Highway 37 from Vinh Bao district in Hai Phong to Gia Loc district in Hai Duong.

The bridge is expected to facilitate transportation between Hai Phong, Hai Duong and other surrounding routes as well as boost socio-economic development in the localities.
